Grand Place, Brussels. 1998. Grattography, oil on wood, 90x60 cm
The picture shows part of the Central Square of Brussels with the City Hall. This is the most fascinating place in the city. Ancient houses with toylike decor are framing the square on all sides, immersing spectators in a time journey back to 500 years ago. Ancient tapestries, knights in helmets and heavy wooden furniture complement the interior of the City Hall.
The painting is made in the technique of grattography on pressed wood by scratching a picturesque drawing.
