This monotype of the exodus from Egypt and the splitting of the Red Sea condenses the human element to the bottom portion of the image, divided between the Egyptians and their horses in pursuit and the hint of figures standing in front of the Red Sea. However, the true significance of the event is not in the human story. The work is dominated by the power that lifts and parts the water of the Red Sea, highlighting the fact that this was an event of cosmic proportions.
