An Exhibition by Shmuel (Anatoly) Schelest in Jerusalem

From August 27 to October 10, 2026, Skizza the Art Project Jerusalem presents “Prophets and Prophecies,” a solo exhibition by Shmuel (Anatoly) Schelest.

The exhibition explores the figures of the biblical prophets, the nature of prophecy, and the human search for spiritual meaning. Shmuel Schelest offers a contemporary visual interpretation of biblical texts, connecting ancient narratives with questions that remain relevant today.

About the Artist

Anatoly Shmuel Schelest | אנטולי שמואל שלסט is an Israeli artist with a remarkable international background.

Born in Kyiv in 1957, Schelest studied at the Graphics Department of the Kyiv Institute of Fine Arts. Following the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, he moved with his family to Tashkent, where he graduated from the Graphics Department of the Tashkent National Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts in 1989.

In 2000, Schelest moved to Koblenz, Germany, and in 2006 he relocated to Israel. He currently lives in Ma’ale Adumim and works in Jerusalem.

Throughout his career, his art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Israel, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Georgia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries.

Notable exhibition venues include the Knesset, the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, the Moshe Castel Museum of Art, the Jerusalem Cinematheque, the Jaffa Museum, the National Museum of Ukraine, the Georgian National Museum, and the Jerusalem House of Quality.

Shmuel Schelest is also the creator of the principal illustrations for Pinchas Polonsky’s new “Biblical Dynamics” book series.
